Dealing with people who have disabilities

Dealing with people who have disabilities can be challenging but it can be done if you have the right attitude. Patience is key when dealing with special needs adults or even teenagers. Some are more sensitive then other but they will listen to you if they are comfortable with you and don't feel you are yelling. It's very easy to talk to someone with special needs. You don't need a special degree or certificate to deal with people with special needs, just a great deal of compassion. I've dealt with them personally and they are no different from anyone else. I'm amazed at the fact that they have goals and know what they want, even when others think they are incapable of doing things for themselves, some of them are even in college, while others have started their own businesses. I've learned not to judge a book by its cover and to accept everyone as they are. They have feelings just like everyone else so why treat them any different?
